Scooting Around

Over the weekend, Erik and I scooted around town (yes, we got a scooter!!!) and had a blast.  Our errands included a trip to his new office to drop off some books and do a little decorating.  He started working at a new firm at the beginning of September.... and although he didn't move into a new building in Philly, he moved up a few floors and has some fantastic views.

By the way, this outfit is one of my favorites in a long time... which means, I wore it all. weekend. long.

Pink Silk

This skirt has been sitting in my closet for a while now.

Yes, basically what I just wrote should be a crime.

I purchased this fantastic silk garment before Christmas, and for some insane reason, I haven't given it a spin around town, until now.  Soft, silky, Betty Draper-like attire that I've been passing up day after day?!

I'm ashamed of myself.

A Little Black and Blue

A little black and blue seems appropriate to share, especially considering my day.  An early wake-up, hours of meetings, and a major to-do list at work has left me feeling a little overwhelmed.  Of course I love being a teacher, and can't wait to see so many of my lovely students next week, but saying good-bye to summer is soooo sad.

So Sentimental

I was a little lazy today, so I copied yesterday's outfit with stripes and florals.  I added some comfy sandals for grocery shopping (yes, my life is that exciting) and my favorite belt, a piece from my grandfather's closet.  My grandfather was a very special, hard working man-- a coal miner in Pennsylvania for over 50 years.  You can see how heavily worn out the belt looks... and I know it's been through a lot.

I know I've said this before, and I'm sure I'll say it a thousand more times, but it feels great to wear something so sentimental.

Pick a Color

Today I went to the salon to get a manicure.  When the manicurist told me to pick a color (picking a color for anything is always a hard decision for me), I couldn't stop staring at this bright Essie color.  I think this emerald green shirt made me like the color more than I normally would.  Green compliments this purple-ish pink so nicely! ... I'll have to remember that with clothing.

What are your favorite colors to pair?

Everybody Everywear: Thrifting

Thrift | Everybody, Everywear

I "thrifted" this vintage shirt several years ago, and I'm ashamed that I don't wear it more often.  It is really beautifully made.  All of the flowers are meticulously sewn, and the scalloped sleeves and neckline are adorable.

Now let's discuss this skirt, which was purchased new, but is also rarely worn.  I bought this skirt from a J.Crew outlet in the early Spring, only to realize that my legs were the same color as the skirt. (ewwwwww!)  So, other than wearing it with tights (not happening in this 100+ degree weather), I had to wait for some tan legs.  And trust me, my Eastern European genes don't like to tan.

Summer Fancy Pants

Going out during the summer is tricky.  A sleeveless dress is great outdoors, and terrible in the AC... so I got a little fancy, and added this white blazer.

This is basically as fancy as it gets, folks.  No high-end designers, just some seriously crisp white Gap fabric.  I love it.

Psst.. Do you love Gap jackets like I do?  I have a little obsession...in navy, beige, black, and tweed!

Discount Nautical

I recently found this silk skirt for $3 at a thrift store...score.  But, I can't figure out what to do with it, and I definitely don't like it with this top.  BAH.  Do you post outfits you dislike? ...cuz this girl does.

Everybody Everywhere: Florals

Florals | Everybody, Everywear

Today is Floral Day over at Everybody Everywear!  I love florals, so when I looked through my closet last night, I was actually shocked to find out that my only other item of clothing that has a floral print was actually worn last week.

I'd love to pretend that this dress came right out of my grandmother's closet (because it looks like it should have), but in reality, I snagged it from a vintage clothing store in Philly a few summers ago.  I don't have too many vintage pieces, but I love them sooo much.

Old zippers, old seams......old floral print, for sure!

Whose Shirt?

{Shirt & Skirt: H&M // Shoes: UO //
Belt: Gap // Necklace: Vintage (Grandma's!)}

5 minutes before E took these photos, I was napping.  But then he promised to take me out to dinner for Cinco de Mayo, and I woke up instantly, with a smile on my face! yesssssssssss.

Oh, and I have no idea where this shirt came from.  Well, I mean, I know it's from H&M...but I mean I don't know who actually owns this shirt.  It came out of my laundry basket this morning, and I know it's not mine.  Is it Erik's? Or a friend's? Someone please tell me what I'm wearing!

Three Potato Four

Last night, I found out about Three Potato Four from a local news website.  Within minutes, I knew that I had to visit this place immediately.  So today, I googled mapped my way to Manayunk, a Philadelphia neighborhood, and already had a purchase in mind thanks to the store's fabulous website.

For several months, I have been searching for the perfect old piece of furniture to serve as a bar cart in our dining room.  I wanted something beat up and unconventional, and something that would be versatile enough for me to use in a variety of ways in the future.  Sure enough, I found this old green industrial cart that had been renewed with some reclaimed wood.  Fortunately for me, the piece was still at the store this morning and I knew it was perfect once I saw it in person!  Yes it's a little..um... industrial... for a dining room, but I'm thinking of repainting it.  I just have no idea what color I want it to be, so it'll probably sit here like this for a while:

I think that it's perfect for a bar cart now, but I can also imagine using it as a storage cart in my kitchen, or a garden cart for the porch!

My other fun finds include this old Kraft American cheese box, a sugar mold (which has now become a perfect addition to my desk), a book of Gospel songs from 1902, and 3 skeleton keys.  Overall, a fun day at Three Potato Four, please give them a visit if you live in the Philly area!
