Bright Whites

I'm spending the week on the North Carolina shore in the Outer Banks, relaxing with family.  Packing for this trip was surprisingly easy (mostly bathing suits and lounge-wear), however, I did stick a few great basics in my suitcase.  These white jeans from Loft and a white button-down from Gap are great for multiple outfits, but I love wearing a bold necklace with a monochromatic look.. so I stuck them together.

This bag is one of my favorite gifts of all time.  This past spring, my hubby came home on a regular Tuesday evening with a bag from J.Crew.  He wanted to surprise me with something, and picked this bag out on his own.  What a sweet gesture!  And even though I probably wouldn't have picked it out for myself, it's now become my favorite summer accessory... perfect with every outfit!

Punkin' Pickin'

Last week, one of my 1st graders was constantly talking about how excited he was to do some "punkin' pickin."  I guess I couldn't get that out of my head, because I had a major itch to pick some pumpkins as well!  With a bit of sunshine and warmth in the air, we hopped onto our (super amazing) new Genuine Buddy, and found a great little place in our area.

One little pumpkin, too many nachos, and some alpaca-petting later, we rode home with the wind in our faces.  A perfect Sunday...

Scooting Around

Over the weekend, Erik and I scooted around town (yes, we got a scooter!!!) and had a blast.  Our errands included a trip to his new office to drop off some books and do a little decorating.  He started working at a new firm at the beginning of September.... and although he didn't move into a new building in Philly, he moved up a few floors and has some fantastic views.

By the way, this outfit is one of my favorites in a long time... which means, I wore it all. weekend. long.

Time in the Country

Tonight my week-long break comes to an end.  It's never easy to return to setting the alarm clock, but I have to admit to feeling well-rested and ready to take on a new work week.

I wore this outfit on Friday when we spent the morning enjoying my parents' horses, playing with the dogs, and eventually making the 6 hour drive back to suburban life.  Simple outfit for a day of simple pleasures... the time out there never lasts long enough.

This is Deuce, my sister's pup who thinks horse grain is tasty.

My Diagonal Cardigan

Siggghhh, I'm so tired tonight!  I couldn't bare to get off of the couch and show off my mismatched pajama ensemble, so I opted to post a weekend outfit from a few weeks ago.  This is one of the softest sweaters that I have, and I love its quirkiness.  The button front is actually diagonal, but it's hard to tell from these photos.  I bought this in a little shop in Hong Kong when I visited during my senior year of college.  What an amazing city! ....and I love wearing a piece of clothing that reminds me of those great memories.

Check back in tomorrow for my very first guest blogger post!  Ashley from Flats to Flip Flops will be visiting, and you can read my guest post on her blog!

A Gift from InPink

A few months ago I signed up for a giveaway through the lovely blog, Adored Austin.  Indiana was partnering with InPink, and I was lucky enough to win a gift card through her blog!

I ended up taking far too long to choose my gift, because InPink has so many adorable pieces of jewelry!  Last week I finally decided on something simple and classic, these sterling silver double drop cubic zirconia earrings.  Thanks so much, InPink!

Before the Dress

Before I changed into the mustard dress for our "family photo" on Saturday, I wore the same shirt in the morning for a quick trip to the farmer's market.  Nothing fancy, just a little "I just hopped out of bed" outfit for some local produce.

Linvilla Orchards & Sweetwater Farm

After a lengthy hiatus in the blog world, I'm back, and promising to be much more consistent this coming week.

I'm starting off by sharing today's little adventure, which was a visit to our favorite orchards, Linvilla.  My house is officially stocked up on apples, apple cider, pumpkins, and pumpkin pie.

Bag: Ecote via Urban Outfitters

And just in case you haven't noticed, I'm a pretty major animal lover (refer to here, here and here), so I couldn't resist fighting my way through the swarms of little kids to spend some time feeding the farm animals.

We were able to make a quick stop at Linvilla today because we were also on our way to stop by our wedding venue.  I needed to take a few quick pictures of the location and talk over some further details with the innkeepers.

Although this is certainly no wedding blog, I know women and I know their love for weddings... so here is a quick peek at our beautiful venue, a bed and breakfast, and winery, called Sweetwater Farm

After only two visits, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite places, ever!  Even the cold, miserable rain couldn't put a damper on my smile.  This place is just perfect for us!

Now that I'm back at home, it's certainly time to pull the sweaters and boots out of the closet before the work week begins.  It's cold out there!

A Little Black and Blue

A little black and blue seems appropriate to share, especially considering my day.  An early wake-up, hours of meetings, and a major to-do list at work has left me feeling a little overwhelmed.  Of course I love being a teacher, and can't wait to see so many of my lovely students next week, but saying good-bye to summer is soooo sad.

At Night

First and foremost, I want to give Elaine from Clothed Much a HUGE thank you for featuring me in a recent guest post.  Clothed Much is a blog that I've enjoyed reading for quite some time, and so it was very exciting to write my first guest post for her!  I also want to welcome all of the readers who have found me through Clothed Much and decided to check out my tiny little corner in the online world.

In my recent guest post, I mentioned learning some things through blogging.  Unfortunately (yet apparently) I have yet to learn that taking photos at night is a ridiculous idea.  I apologize for the low lighting, but I have a good reason I swear!  Last night we trekked into lower Manhattan for some late dinner and a night out on the town.  We visited a few great spots throughout our Saturday night, and my feet were certainly happy for avoiding heels on the long walks we took!
