Punkin' Pickin'

Last week, one of my 1st graders was constantly talking about how excited he was to do some "punkin' pickin."  I guess I couldn't get that out of my head, because I had a major itch to pick some pumpkins as well!  With a bit of sunshine and warmth in the air, we hopped onto our (super amazing) new Genuine Buddy, and found a great little place in our area.

One little pumpkin, too many nachos, and some alpaca-petting later, we rode home with the wind in our faces.  A perfect Sunday...

My Jerry Garcia Sweater

When I came home with this sweater, Erik laughed at me.  Then he stared for a bit, and told me that I was dressed like Jerry Garcia.  Some people would take offense to that, but I don't mind.  And knowing Erik's (former) hippy self, he definitely meant it as a compliment.

So here is how I wore the sweater this past weekend.  The truth is, I'm also wearing it right now.  Only, I can't show you my Jerry Garcia sweater on a Wednesday night.  Because on a weeknight this sweater isn't paired with a dress, or heels, or jewelry.

It's paired with sweet, beautiful, plaid pajama bottoms and my favorite fluffy slippers.

Ahh, the Suburbs

This afternoon, as Erik and I took a stroll downtown, we saw lots of busy people who are decorating our town for next week's tree lighting celebration.  December is the most beautiful month in my town.  The main street is filled with thousands of lights, they play Christmas music over loud-speakers, and if you're lucky, you'll catch some man-made snow and some Christmas carolers on a Saturday night!  Santa passes out candy his giant fire truck, and the town offers horse and carriage rides on the weekends.  Basically, it's a scene right out of some Family Channel made-for-tv movie... and I love it!  It's suburban cuteness overload.  And for a girl who grew up in the country, it's exactly what I've always wanted.

What do you love about your town/city/countryside during the holiday season?  OR, are you a grinch who hates it all? :)

Pssst!  Want a little video tour of this suburban sweetness?  Check it out on video right here!

These Short Boots

My striped dress was a favorite from this past summer.  It's too short for work, so I knew I had to throw it on for some weekend errands.  My second thought went straight to these black Gap boots... which feel like a little blast from the past.  And although I've hung up my fishnets and Dr. Martins years ago, I still feel a little rock'n'roll with these short boots.

Happy Sunday evening, everyone.  This household is hunkering down for some serious HBO time and a big pot of my favorite soup!

Everybody Everywear: Colored Tights

I bought this dress from H&M during the summer, knowing that it would be a favorite fall favorite, and it really has been!  I've been wearing it nonstop over the past few months because so easy to dress up or down.

I can't wait to pack this mustard guy up for my upcoming long weekend!  Later this week, I'm meeting up with my family to officially begin the search for a...  wedding...   gown.

I've been so excited about the planning so far, but searching for the perfect gown seems so stressful, I'm definitely apprehensive about it.  I'm on my way to Bridal Atelier and RK Bridal in Manhattan.  Have any of you visited?  Any good stories about finding your dress?

One Bow After Another

I started follow Saucy Glossie's sweet style after she was featured on the TJ Maxx commercial, and I just love what she puts together.  Yesterday I was so excited to see her wear the same coat that I recently purchased at H&M, and then when I started admiring her tights, I realized that I was crazy for letting a similar remain in my closet....unworn!

I'm not quite on the same level as this stylish lady... my shoes are cheap, I have no fancy hats, and my almost-nighttime pictures are more than just unfortunate.  BUT, at least I've got the coat.  Win.

A White Basic

I got super stressed at work on Thursday, so I decided that some emergency retail therapy was necessary for my well-being.  I have been loving H&M's selection this season, so I stopped in and found this dress for $17.95!  I loved it so much, I just had to get a black one and a white one.  They are cotton, comfy, and perfect for layering in so many ways.  I'm also a sucker for the zipper up the back and the 3/4 length sleeves.
