Leopard Heels and a Hanes T

Somewhere in between the transition from work clothes to pajamas, I made a pit stop on my Halloween costume.  Then things started getting thrown around, and before I knew it, I stumbled upon this little gem of an outfit.  Work sweater, pajama t-shirt underneath... pair it with my favorite shoes and skirt, and I dig it.

Leopard print heels with a Hanes t-shirt sums me up pretty well, whether it's a good thing or not.

One Bow After Another

I started follow Saucy Glossie's sweet style after she was featured on the TJ Maxx commercial, and I just love what she puts together.  Yesterday I was so excited to see her wear the same coat that I recently purchased at H&M, and then when I started admiring her tights, I realized that I was crazy for letting a similar remain in my closet....unworn!

I'm not quite on the same level as this stylish lady... my shoes are cheap, I have no fancy hats, and my almost-nighttime pictures are more than just unfortunate.  BUT, at least I've got the coat.  Win.

A Gift from InPink

A few months ago I signed up for a giveaway through the lovely blog, Adored Austin.  Indiana was partnering with InPink, and I was lucky enough to win a gift card through her blog!

I ended up taking far too long to choose my gift, because InPink has so many adorable pieces of jewelry!  Last week I finally decided on something simple and classic, these sterling silver double drop cubic zirconia earrings.  Thanks so much, InPink!

The Little Switzerland of America

This past weekend we took a little road-trip to Northeastern Pennsylvania to a town called Jim Thorpe. Known as the "Switzerland of America" for its picturesque views in the mountains, October is the perfect time of year to spend a day at Jim Thorpe.

We took a nice long walk along the train tracks, then enjoyed lunch in a downtown restaurant before visiting all of the great shops and festivities in the area!

Feminine and Masculine

My no-brainer work attire typically involves a blazer and my most comfortable brown oxfords.  Unfortunately these favorite items are pretty masculine and I'm finally starting to realize that a balance is definitely necessary.

I couldn't imagine dealing with high heels today, so I opted for this bold necklace that I found on a Macy's sale rack.  I love love love bold jewelry!  Garish?  Maybe a little... but I still love it.  :)

Apple Cider and a Chiminea

Yesterday was absolutely lovely.  The weather was perfect, and we were overdo for some quality time with our close friends.  We met them in town for a late Italian dinner, then came home and lit up our chiminea in the back yard.  I made some hot apple cider, and we enjoyed a beautiful fall night.

Here is my made-up recipe for some quick cider on the stove:

Spiced Hot Apple Cider:
-1 gallon apple cider
-zest of 1/2 lemon
-1 Tbsp. ground cloves
-2 Tbsp. brown sugar
-1 cinnamon stick per mug
-1 oz. of rum per mug (optional, of course)

Anyone out there share the love for apples and fire throughout October?

A White Basic

I got super stressed at work on Thursday, so I decided that some emergency retail therapy was necessary for my well-being.  I have been loving H&M's selection this season, so I stopped in and found this dress for $17.95!  I loved it so much, I just had to get a black one and a white one.  They are cotton, comfy, and perfect for layering in so many ways.  I'm also a sucker for the zipper up the back and the 3/4 length sleeves.

Sideburns

This afternoon I sat down with my lovely 3rd graders as they ate their snack.  "Ms. B," asked one young lady, "Are you married?"  "Not yet, I'm going to get married next summer."

"Oh! Who asked you to get married?"

Another boy chimed in, "He doesn't have sideburns, does he?"
"No, K, he doesn't.  But why would that matter?"

"Cuz, Ms. B.  Sideburns are nasty."

Before the Dress

Before I changed into the mustard dress for our "family photo" on Saturday, I wore the same shirt in the morning for a quick trip to the farmer's market.  Nothing fancy, just a little "I just hopped out of bed" outfit for some local produce.

Working on Our Save-the-Dates

Yesterday Erik and I had a dear friend snap a few photos of us in front of our house.  We probably won't be springing for an engagement photo-shoot, but we wanted to share a cute picture on our save-the-date cards that will be going out soon.

We both agreed that we have taken more flattering pictures in the past, but this first photo will be the winning shot for one very important reason... it includes all of 4 of us in the same photo!  When it came down to it, we knew that including our kitty and dog were absolutely necessary because they are such an important part of who we are as a couple.  I also happen to love all of the bright, beautiful colors in this picture... especially Brown's John Deere bandana!

To all of the married folks out there, what sort of save-the-dates did you choose?  We're going to go with a simple card, but there are so many options!  Did you choose a magnet? Calendar? Post-card?

I'm Not Kidding

Ever have a rut with your personal style and all you want to do is wear the same comfy outfit every day?  I've been in that rut for a while now...and wearing Hawaiian-themed pajamas to work just isn't going to cut it.  I wish I could trust E to dress me in the mornings.  Now isn't that a great wish?  A man who you could trust to dress you each morning?  Unfortunately, Erik can't be trusted with much.  In fact, just last night, he recommended photoshopping a giant picture of our cat into our save-the-date photo.

...aannnnnd, I'm not kidding.

Linvilla Orchards & Sweetwater Farm

After a lengthy hiatus in the blog world, I'm back, and promising to be much more consistent this coming week.

I'm starting off by sharing today's little adventure, which was a visit to our favorite orchards, Linvilla.  My house is officially stocked up on apples, apple cider, pumpkins, and pumpkin pie.

And just in case you haven't noticed, I'm a pretty major animal lover (refer to here, here and here), so I couldn't resist fighting my way through the swarms of little kids to spend some time feeding the farm animals.

We were able to make a quick stop at Linvilla today because we were also on our way to stop by our wedding venue.  I needed to take a few quick pictures of the location and talk over some further details with the innkeepers.

Although this is certainly no wedding blog, I know women and I know their love for weddings... so here is a quick peek at our beautiful venue, a bed and breakfast, and winery, called Sweetwater Farm

After only two visits, it's quickly becoming one of my favorite places, ever!  Even the cold, miserable rain couldn't put a damper on my smile.  This place is just perfect for us!

Now that I'm back at home, it's certainly time to pull the sweaters and boots out of the closet before the work week begins.  It's cold out there!
