My Favorite New Accessory

After being with Erik for over 5 years, we are so excited to finally start planning our wedding!  Although I won't be turning Rock'n'Roll Betty into any kind of wedding blog, I'm sure I'll be so excited to share some of our planning throughout this upcoming year.... trust me, the wheels have started turning. :)

Now, in terms of daily outfits, I'm thrilled to have a lovely new accessory to wear each day.... and soon I'll share a few more photos and background on it.  Thank you, everyone, for the warm wishes yesterday!

A Hurricane Engagement

Remember when I mentioned that yesterday was a whirlwind of events?  It was, without a doubt, a day I will cherish forever.  Erik proposed to me in our home.  It was quiet, romantic, and surprisingly unexpected.  The presence of a hurricane ruined his initial plans for the weekend, and then it ruined his backup plans... truthfully, I'm so glad that it did, because the day was perfect.  We celebrated on our own, amidst a scary and monumental storm.

Today we had a little celebratory dinner with some family.  It's such a happy and memorable time for us, I just couldn't resist sharing our news!

A Whirlwind of a Day

It's been a whirlwind of a day to say the least!  I'll never forget today's events, which includes sitting through a major hurricane as we speak.  Naturally, I had to fit a little blog post into my day before we end up losing power like so many others already have...

Another major event will have to be saved for another post :)  Until then, be safe, east coast!

And Maybe a Hurricane

Messy ponytail, over-sized cotton shirt... this is how I do date-night on Fridays.  I'm willing to wear a cute pair of shoes, and even some sparkly fabric, but fixing my hair is just asking too much.

It's Friday!  At the end of this week, I'm just happy to have survived my return to work, an earthquake... and maybe even a hurricane?

We shall see.

A Little Black and Blue

A little black and blue seems appropriate to share, especially considering my day.  An early wake-up, hours of meetings, and a major to-do list at work has left me feeling a little overwhelmed.  Of course I love being a teacher, and can't wait to see so many of my lovely students next week, but saying good-bye to summer is soooo sad.

Parting Ways

I wore this outfit this morning when Mom, Sis and I parted ways after having brunch.  So sad.  I also have to face the fact that my summer vacation is coming to an abrupt end and I have to return to work tomorrow.

Maybe I shouldn't have let my mom leave without taking me "back to school" shopping.  Returning to school would've been a whole lot easier with a new Little Mermaid book bag and a matching pencil box...

At Night

First and foremost, I want to give Elaine from Clothed Much a HUGE thank you for featuring me in a recent guest post.  Clothed Much is a blog that I've enjoyed reading for quite some time, and so it was very exciting to write my first guest post for her!  I also want to welcome all of the readers who have found me through Clothed Much and decided to check out my tiny little corner in the online world.

In my recent guest post, I mentioned learning some things through blogging.  Unfortunately (yet apparently) I have yet to learn that taking photos at night is a ridiculous idea.  I apologize for the low lighting, but I have a good reason I swear!  Last night we trekked into lower Manhattan for some late dinner and a night out on the town.  We visited a few great spots throughout our Saturday night, and my feet were certainly happy for avoiding heels on the long walks we took!

Promenade

Yesterday I was doing some family stuff in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, and realized that it had been a very long time since I visited the beautiful view of Manhattan on the Promenade.  Erik, my sis and I took a walk along the park and took in some great sites.   Here are a few of my favorite pics, along with a few outfit photos:

Sisters are for Loving

Yesterday I made the trip from Philly to New York to spend some time with my family in Brooklyn.  My sister and mom are also visiting from out of town, and it's so nice to have some quality time with my family before I go back to teaching next week.

Having my sis photograph my outfit was so much fun...
     "Oh put your shoulders back..."
"Turn your watch out..."
"Get that cat hair off your shirt..."
I couldn't stop laughing, but her consideration was really sweet!  Here is my lovely little sissy, posing away:

We also got a good laugh at watching the kitty in the window, screaming for our attention:

Over the Rainbow

This weekend a major thunderstorm passed through our time at the beach, and the end result was spectacular.  We celebrated by going to a nice little Italian restaurant.

Just kidding.  We visit an Italian restaurant every weekend... rainbow or not.

Missing Scarves

As much as I really don't want summer to end, I am officially sick of not being able to touch my drawer of scarves.  They are my favorite accessory from Fall through Spring, so when I saw that today's temperature was only going into the mid '70s, I ran right over to my favorite drawer.

I ultimately decided that it is still a little ridiculous to try to wear a scarf with today's weather, so I found this little thrifted guy in the bottom of the drawer, and turned him into a belt.  Yay, a scarf!
